Digital Open 20

WTM’s bi-annual Open exhibition invites amateur and professional artists from Worthing and the wider Sussex community to submit a digital image of their work to the Museum, for the chance for their artwork to be displayed in the Studio Gallery space.

We were due to hold Open20 in its usual format this year and had high hopes for another record breaking year of entries! We’ve been closed since March due to Covid-19, reopening the Museum on Saturdays to a small number of visitors. Holding Open20 just isn’t possible in the way we’d have liked to, so it’ll be back in 2021.

Instead, this year we will be holding Digital Open20. There’s no specific theme so the subject matter is completely open to artistic interpretation! Everyone who lives or works in East or West Sussex – amateur and professional artists of all ages – is welcome to submit an entry via the Digital Open entry form. You’ll need to attach a high resolution digital photograph of your artwork (maximum size 10mb) and we can only accept one entry per person.

We’ll look through every piece and our expert curators will meet to select a shortlist of entries. The criteria for shortlisting will be to choose a fair and representative mixture on the basis of quality and variety. All shortlisted entries will feature in an online exhibition on our website, where we’ll invite the public to vote for their top 25 pieces – which will then feature in an exhibition in Worthing Museum’s Studio Gallery between January and March 2021. If you’re successful you’ll need to deliver your original artwork to the Museum as we will exhibit the real pieces rather than submitted images. Both 2D and 3D works are welcome but please check the conditions of entry for information regarding technical restrictions and limitations

WTM wants to ensure Digital Open20 reflects the work of local amateur artists, communities and professional artists, of all ages and backgrounds. Anyone who lives or works in East or West Sussex is welcome to apply with artwork in any medium.

Entries close 5pm Wednesday 2nd December 2020.

The Digital Open20 is free to enter for everyone. WTM relies on the support of our community, now more than ever, to ensure we can keep bringing the best arts and heritage to Worthing and beyond. If you would like to support Worthing Theatres and Museum with a donation, you can do so on our donation page.
