Screen Archive South East, in association with the West Sussex Record Office and the University of Brighton, collects, preserves and shares moving images made in Worthing and the region. Its collection on the town documents many aspects of its life in the 20th Century including the pleasures of the seafront, everyday scenes and post-war renovations and developments. Dr Frank Gray, the Director of SASE, will use his talk to introduce the archive’s work and provide a tour of Worthing on film. A special feature will be a screening of what we think is the earliest surviving film of the town. It was made in 1898 by the world’s first 35mm film-maker, W. K. L. Dickson.
