Worthing Museum presents the Autumn Lecture Series.

Our hugely popular lecture series returns on Thursday evenings this October to December.

An intimate season of talks with our Archaeology Curator James Sainsbury and guest speakers. Explore a wide range of subjects from Sussex in the Stone and Bronze ages, Worthing at War 1939-1945 and Highdown & Saxon Sussex. This year due to high demand we have the return of A Victorian Naval Odyssey: John Palmer and his unique log book revealed, as well as The Story of Cissbury Ring. Plus brand new talks on topics such as Roman Worthing & Surrounds and Harry Peulevé: Worthing’s War-time Spy.

Highdown & Saxon Sussex (The Story of Highdown Hill)

Arguably the most important Saxon cemetery in Sussex, this lecture will look at new evidence from Highdown Hill and discuss the potential for future investigations at this most enigmatic of sites. The story of its discovery in the 1890s through to our reanalysis of the grave goods will be covered, in addition to looking at the trends in wider Saxon Sussex over 600 years.

Ticket price includes a glass of wine or tea/coffee.
