Worthing Museum presents the Autumn Lecture Series.

Our hugely popular lecture series returns on Thursday evenings this October to December.

An intimate season of talks with our Archaeology Curator James Sainsbury and guest speakers. Explore a wide range of subjects from Sussex in the Stone and Bronze ages, Worthing at War 1939-1945 and Highdown & Saxon Sussex. This year due to high demand we have the return of A Victorian Naval Odyssey: John Palmer and his unique log book revealed, as well as The Story of Cissbury Ring. Plus brand new talks on topics such as Roman Worthing & Surrounds and Harry Peulevé: Worthing’s War-time Spy.

Roman Worthing & Surrounds

Most of us have heard of Fishbourne and other famous Roman sites in our county, but perhaps less are aware of the Roman villa under the museum, or the dozens of farms that covered our local Downland. This lecture will include a detailed look at two newly discovered farmsteads, in addition to a recap on our better-known local settlements. Roman Worthing was a very busy place indeed!

Ticket price includes a glass of wine or tea/coffee.

Members pre-sale Tuesday 2 August, 10am
