In 2018 Worthing Museum and Gallery lent 70 hats from its historic costume collection to the Spielzeug Welten Museum in Basel, Switzerland, for an exhibition entitled Hats off to Hats!.

21 of the 70 hats needed conservation work before they were delivered to Switzerland. In excess of 620 hours of conservation work was carried out on the hats by the Zenzie Tinker Conservation studio. 

This exhibition showcases the museum's extensive collection of hats and will show for the first time at the museum the hats that were conserved for the Basil exhibition. 

The exhibition will explore the behind the scenes work by the museum team to deliver a large outward loan and the conservation carried out.
