  • Description

Join us at the museum for a free lecture by Dr Scott Chaussee of Wessex Archaeology.

Since the end of the last Ice Age, the landscape of Sussex and the identity of its communities have been shaped by their relationship with the sea. Recent offshore developments for wind power have allowed archaeologists to understand these changing marine environments. Innovations in technology and methods are creating new links between archaeology on land and the archaeology of the sea. Drawing on discoveries and research from prehistory to the 20th century, Marine Geophysicist, Dr Scott Chaussee, will explore the diversity of land and marine archaeology and its connection to local communities through time.

Dr Chaussee will be based in the museum galleries before and after this lecture with artefacts recovered by Wessex Archaeology from the English Channel and beyond.

Please Note although tickets are free, we recommend booking a ticket as there a
re limited spaces available for this lecture.
