  • Description

Stephanie Smart is the fine artist, creator of The House of Embroidered Paper and her exhibition of both The Regency Wardrobe will be on display in the Norwood Gallery, Worthing Museum.

Stephanie discusses how each piece is inspired by period and place, history and story. She will explain how she developed her use of paper as a medium for garment construction, with embroidered and applied decoration, and how her latest collection variously reinterprets the Regency era. By working closely with volunteers from The Regency Town House Heritage Centre, Hove, Stephanie has created a collection that's broader in scope in terms of its relationship to a particular area, and historical era, than any she has worked on previously.

The artist will also talk about her 300 Years of Shoes collection of five shoes exhibited alongside The Regency Wardrobe in the Norwood landing. This body of work comprises the first five to have been created as part of the collection. They show changes in the typical style of female shoes from the early years of the Georgian era right up to the present day.
