An introduction to fabric printing using linocut blocks

This session will be led by Rosemary Jones, and is an introduction to the fabric printing process, with an introduction to simple repeat patterns, block cutting, inking the block and printing onto a small section of fabric using screen printing ink.

You will take home your own small linocut printing block and some pieces of your own printed cotton fabric. There will be some examples of printing blocks and fabric designs but if you have anything particular in mind for your design please bring it along. You could also bring along other plain pieces of your own fabric to experiment with (natural fibres and in a plain weave are best). There will also be a lampshade kit to show as well.

This is a very quick introduction to a fascinating topic which can lead you in all sorts of directions, such as making lampshades, cushions, tote bags etc. - The tutor on hand will give details of suppliers and suggestions of what to do and where to go next!

All materials and tools supplied.
