A digital print installation about South Coast wetlands and climate change

Anne Krinsky has created Fugitive, a digital print installation about vulnerable South Coast wetlands and climate change, for Worthing Museum’s Art Gallery. The exhibition features a series of large-scale digital prints inspired by photographic imagery the artist gathered in South Coast wetlands in 2020 and 2021. She worked with paint, photography and projection to design the print installation, which also responds to the Gallery’s Edwardian architecture. 

Since 2018, Anne Krinsky has been working on a research-based project about vulnerable wetlands and climate change in a range of river and coastal locations. For this exhibition she explored wetlands on the South Coast, including Lymington and Keyhaven in The North Solent, Chichester, Pagham and Portsmouth Harbours and the Adur Estuary.

The artist says, “I wanted to share my passion for coastal wetlands and bring attention to these fragile and beautiful habitats, which are threatened by rising sea levels and agricultural and sewage runoff. I was lucky to learn about coastal habitat protection and restoration from marine biologists Elizabeth Hibberd (Marine Ornithologist) and Dr. Joanne Preston (University of Portsmouth Institute of Marine Sciences / Solent Oyster Restoration Project). Both are providing free talks at the Museum during the exhibition.”

A concurrent outdoor exhibition, Anne Krinsky: Wetlands / Shifting Shorelines, will be on view at the “Seafront Gallery” on the Worthing seafront, from November 2021 through April 2022.
