  • Description

Our hugely popular lecture series returns on Thursday evenings this October and November.

An intimate season of talks with our Archaeology Curator James Sainsbury and a guest speaker. Explore a wide range of subjects from Worthing in the Neolithic, the stories of Cissbury, Chanctonbury Ring and Highdown, through to the Norman Conquest and Worthing in the Great War. This year social historian Beth Collard will be giving a brand new lecture on the Pioneering Women of Worthing, as well as her fascinating talk on Harry Peuleve, a Worthing-born SOE agent active in Europe during World War II.

About the talk

The Worthing area was a very busy place six thousand years ago, with the sinking of mines in search of high-quality flint, the clearing of forest for farming and the development of the first monuments. This lecture will focus on the area of Worthing itself, with a nod to important sites nearby. The talk will also reveal a new discovery of significance, a monument that has been hiding in plain sight for centuries...

Ticket price includes a glass of wine or tea/coffee.
