Part of a series of talks about Influential Women of the twentieth century.

Edith Piaf, also known as “The Little Sparrow”, was one of the most iconic performers in France.
Many of her songs became famous such as Non, je ne regrette rien – an unbelievable title when considering all she had to endure in her life. Her songs were often autobiographical and it is therefore not surprising that most of them are about love, loss and sorrow.

An unusual and unsettling childhood, teenage years as a street singer and a life full of drama ultimately took her to addiction and related health issues.

Would you like to know more about this woman who became an international star against all odds?

Monika Lind is a retired university lecturer of Culture and Humanities Studies with a passion to continue to share her eclectic interests in and knowledge of all things cultural with you.
