  • Description

Thought-provoking drama from the director of I, Daniel Blake

Drama from director Ken Loach. Set around the last remaining pub, The Old Oak, in a village of Northeast England, where people are leaving the land as the mines are closed. Houses are cheap and available, thus making it an ideal location for Syrian refugees. The film focusses on the divisions in the village but also the connections that bind us together.

Written, produced and directed by Ken Loach with Paul Laverty.

Silver Screen
Silver Screen is a strand of great movies aimed at an older audience, but all ages are welcome. Running every Monday morning at 11am. Tickets are just £4.50 and include free Tea/Coffee and biscuits. Tea and Coffee served from 10.30am. In an effort to become more environmentally sustainable, we will only be serving free tea and coffee to customers who bring their own cup with a lid.

★★★★ Loach and Laverty fervently argue that through solidarity and a recognition of real interests, British people can naturally show empathy to immigrants and refugees. The Guardian
★★★★ An intimate but ambitiously mounted ensemble piece Screen Daily
★★★★ If this is the end of the road for a British filmmaking great, it’s a thoughtful, heart-filled finale (for Loach) TimeOut
