About Small Axe: Mangrove

Our Black Icons of Cinema season celebrates..... Steve McQueen.

This Black History Month, the Connaught proudly presents Black Icons of Cinema - a special season celebrating groundbreaking Black filmmakers. Join us this October to experience trailblazing talent and timeless stories on the big screen. There'll be something for everyone.

About the film
From British director Steve McQueen's trailblazing SMALL AXE series. A rare opportunity to see this on the big screen. Mangrove tells this true story of The Mangrove Nine, who clashed with London police in 1970. The trial that followed was the first judicial acknowledgment of behavior motivated by racial hatred within the Metropolitan Police.
