The Big Eyed Ears return to showcase their performance for The Bianca Project

A performance by artists from The Big Eyed Ears will take place in the Studio Gallery of the museum. The Bianca Project exhibition forms the backdrop for this performance which is the result of a project exploring William Holman-Hunt's painting Bianca, the Patroness of Heavenly Harmony.

The participants have been examining how people with disabilities are perceived and how assumptions can be made. They focused on key issues like how they deal with their feelings, and the importance of building trust and awareness around the risks of manipulation.

Accompanying artwork illustrates the progress of the project with participant reflections and understanding of the issues involved. This project is designed to improve confidence and empower people with learning disabilities during interactions with the general public.

The participants have been building a 'relationship' with Bianca (who is a character from Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew) as they get to know more about her and are responding with fantastic insights and responses. They have also been joined by former 'Spin Out' dance and circus group KAPOW, who are doing work with the group based on movement and emotion.

The Bianca Project exhibition continues until the end of January 2023.
