Terrence Malick is one cinema's finest auteurs and biggest recluses. After his first two films he disappeared from Hollywood for 20 years. He rarely grants interviews and there are few photos of him. But his films speak for themselves - poetic studies of the minutia that make up a life, often within very extraordinary circumstances. His first five films are masterpieces among the all-time greats, and among the favourites of our film programmer - James. As James celebrates his 10th year at the Connaught he is indulging himself with this season of films and hopes very much that you'll join him.

About the Film
Adaptation of James Jones' autobiographical 1962 novel, focusing on the conflict at Guadalcanal during the second World War from the point of view of the soldiers. Cast includes George Clooney, John Travolta, Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, John Cusack, Nick Nolte, Jim Caviezel, Adrien Brody, Ben Chaplin, Thomas Jane, Elias Koteas and more.
