About Highdown Goblet - Dance Workshop

Discover history through movement, music and storytelling

Celebrate the story of the Highdown Goblet in this unique and creative dance workshop at Worthing Museum. Dating from around 400 AD and discovered on Highdown Hill, the goblet’s remarkable journey inspires this engaging session combining history, mythology and live performance.

The workshop begins with an introduction by artist Jane Couldrey, exploring the origins of the goblet and its connection to local history. Participants will then take part in an inclusive, beginner-friendly dance workshop led by Gill Emerson, an experienced dance caller known for creating welcoming and accessible sessions.

Together, you will help bring a new dance to life, inspired by the story of the goblet and the symbolism of hares. The session features live music by Phil Jones, adding energy and atmosphere to the experience.

No previous dance experience is required, and all abilities are welcome.

Supported using public funding by the Arts Council England.
