About Jazz Night: Josephine Davies

Winner of the 2019 Parliamentary Jazz Award for Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year, saxophonist, composer and bandleader Josephine Davies is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary UK jazz.

Known for her melodic playing, versatility and expressive style, Josephine creates music that brings together jazz, classical and folk influences, infused with the atmospheric Nordic character of her Shetland roots. She has released four albums with her acclaimed trio, Satori, on Whirlwind Recordings and continues to build an impressive reputation as both a performer and a composer.

She has also composed for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and is an integral member of the acclaimed Harper Trio.
