About My English Persian Kitchen

What would you take if you were forced to leave home with no hope of returning? How would you start fresh somewhere completely new? This is the true story about one woman who loses everything.

Remembering the tastes and aromas of her mother’s kitchen, she recreates the dishes of her childhood and homeland with live cooking on stage, building a new life and community around food.

Written by award-winning Hannah Khalil from the story by Atoosa Sepehr, this life-affirming play chronicles a quest to start again.

My English Persian Kitchen was first performed at the Traverse Theatre as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, produced by Soho Theatre and Traverse Theatre.

‘A thoroughly flavourful feast of a play that transports its audiences, through its aromatic delights, into an Iranian kitchen’
