Willow Lantern Sculpture Workshop

Create your own illuminated willow lantern in this inspiring two-day workshop for young people aged 13–17, inspired by the fascinating collections at Worthing Museum.

Working in a small group of just eight participants, you'll explore the Museum's collections for creative inspiration. Whether it's a Saxon brooch, an ancient sword or a historic costume, you'll transform your ideas into a unique willow and tissue paper lantern.

Day One focuses on designing your lantern and constructing its framework using traditional willow techniques.

Day Two brings your creation to life as you cover it with tissue paper, add decorative details and prepare it for illumination.

Before taking your lantern home, it will be displayed for a short time in the Museum Garden or inside the Museum, giving you the opportunity to see your work showcased as part of the Museum's creative programme.

All materials are provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

Suitable for ages 13–17. Places are limited to eight participants.
