About Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra: From Magic to Majesty

WPO welcomes violinist Leo Appel to play Tchaikovsky's ever-popular Violin Concerto. Leo is supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, with which WPO has strong links, and makes his debut performance with the orchestra here.

The programme opens with Weber's attractive overture to his opera Oberon - a piece infused with delicate fairy magic and colourful orchestral effect - and concludes with BrahmsSymphony No. 2, justly valued as being at the very pinnacle of nineteenth-century symphonic repertoire.

Programme:

  • Weber: Oberon Overture
  • Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto
  • Brahms: Symphony No. 2
