Casual Maintenance Assistant

About the Role

Worthing Theatres & Museum is recruiting a Casual Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep of our venues across Worthing. This is a hands-on role within our Buildings team, helping to maintain safe, welcoming and well-presented spaces for audiences, artists and staff.

Working across sites including the Connaught Theatre, Pavilion Theatre, Assembly Hall and Worthing Museum & Art Gallery, you will carry out a range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks. These include painting and decorating, minor repairs, basic plumbing, furniture assembly and general upkeep of indoor and outdoor areas.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work closely with colleagues and contractors to ensure our venues operate smoothly and safely. Key responsibilities include:

• Completing day-to-day maintenance and repairs
• Supporting health and safety checks and compliance
• Maintaining accurate maintenance logs
• Assisting contractors and ensuring site procedures are followed
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues

About You

You’ll be practical, reliable and able to work independently. We’re looking for someone with:

• Experience in a maintenance or similar hands-on role
• Confidence using tools and completing physical tasks
• Knowledge of health and safety in a workplace setting
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach

Experience in a trade such as decorating, plumbing, carpentry or electrical work is an advantage.
