Former Strictly pro and Dancing on Ice champion to play panto villain at the Pavilion Theatre this Christmas

Worthing's Christmas pantomime just got a whole lot more wicked. James Jordan, the former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer and Dancing on Ice winner, has been cast as the villainous Rumpelstiltskin in Puss in Boots, running at the Pavilion Theatre from 3 December 2026 through to 3 January 2027.

The announcement marks the latest chapter in James' journey from the ballroom to the boards. Best known to millions as one of Strictly's most charismatic and technically gifted professionals, Jordan built a devoted following through his electrifying Latin routines and magnetic stage presence — qualities that producers believe will make him an irresistible panto baddie.

The pantomime is produced by Paul Holman Associates (PHA), one of the UK's leading family entertainment producers. Nick George, PHA's Creative and Managing Director, said Jordan was "the perfect choice" for the role: "The wicked sparkle, charisma and cheeky banter audiences know and love from his television appearances make him a natural panto villain, and I know Worthing audiences are going to love booing him every night."

James himself is equally enthusiastic. "I'm absolutely thrilled to be heading to Worthing this Christmas to play the villainous Rumpelstiltskin," he said. "I love panto season, and there's nothing better than hearing the audience boo the baddie every night! It's going to be such a fun, magical show for the whole family."

James' TV career has taken him well beyond the Strictly dancefloor. He has appeared in The Full Monty on ITV, Celebrity Catchphrase, Celebrity Coach Trip and Celebrity Big Brother, and in 2019 famously won Dancing on Ice, taking on an entirely new discipline before lifting the trophy. Earlier this year he performed in the UK tour of The Legends of the Dancefloor alongside fellow Strictly alumni, with a follow-up 2027 tour already in the works.

A dancer since the age of ten, James had an outstanding competitive career before meeting his wife, fellow professional Ola Jordan. The pair competed as one of the world's top 12 dance couples and represented England at the World Championships together.

Matthew Pike, Head of Technical and Production at Worthing Theatres & Museum, said the team was thrilled to have him on board: "Every great pantomime needs a truly memorable villain, and with his exceptional dance skills, magnetism, and commanding stage presence, James is the perfect choice to bring this role to life."
