This silver brooch, discovered in Findon by a metal detectorist, is thought to be from 1300-1400AD. Brooches like this often have religious or sentimental mottos inscribed - this one reads ‘INV.ONVONV.ONV. Whilst this phrase doesn’t seem to make much sense, we think it is meant to ward off evil spirits and keep the wearer safe from harm! Your donation will ensure we can bring the stories of many more objects like this brooch to life.
