About Summer Walks 2026 - Cissbury Ring

Join Worthing Museum archaeologist James Sainsbury for a guided walk exploring the remarkable 6,000-year history of Cissbury Ring, the highest hill in Worthing and home to the second-largest hill fort in the country.

From Neolithic flint mines and Bronze Age activity to the impressive Iron Age ramparts that still dominate the landscape today, Cissbury Ring has been a focal point for communities for thousands of years. The site also played a strategic role during the Second World War, leaving behind fascinating traces of more recent history.

As you explore this iconic Sussex landmark, James will reveal the stories behind one of Worthing’s most important archaeological sites, set against spectacular views of the South Downs and coastline.

Part of our Summer Archaeology Walk Programme, this walk is ideal for anyone interested in archaeology, local history and the Sussex landscape.
