About Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra: Raphael Wallfisch plays Elgar - Holst 'The Planets'

WPO welcomes one of the world’s greatest cellists, Raphael Wallfisch, to play  Elgar’s Cello Concerto, among the most iconic ever written for this instrument. This special 2026-27 season opening concert also includes Holst’s The Planets, which remains among the most popular and powerful orchestral works in the repertoire.  The concert opens with Richard Strauss’s most exuberant and witty tone poem, based on the medieval Germanic folk legend of the mischievous trickster Till Eulenspiegel
